Winterizing your boat is done to protect it from damage during the cold winter. The biggest danger is from water left inside the engine or pipes, which can freeze, expand, and crack expensive parts. To prevent this, a mechanic will drain all the water out of the engine, toilets, and sinks, and then fill these systems with a special pink antifreeze that won't freeze. They will also add a stabilizer to the gas tank to keep the fuel fresh and change the oil to protect the engine while it's not being used.
Shrink wrapping gives your boat a tough, protective shell for the winter. It’s a large sheet of heavy-duty plastic that is tightly sealed around the entire boat using a heat tool. This creates a waterproof cover that is much stronger than a regular blue tarp and won't tear or collapse under heavy snow and ice. Vents are installed in the plastic to let air circulate, which helps prevent mold from growing inside. This keeps your boat clean, dry, and safe until you're ready to use it again in the spring.
